What's Forever For

Anne Murray is one of my favorite hit makers in the 80s. You probably don’t know her but I prefer to listen to most of her songs especially during the night. They are what send me to bed. Her soulful lineup of pop and contemporary music is something you will never get tired of listening to over and over. One of my favorite is her version of Michael Martin Murphy's "What's Forever For." Once I was looking for a music video of the song from YouTube and came across Billy Gilman's exceptional and tear jerking rendition of the song. What a pleasant voice!

I didn't know it became an official soundtrack of Helen Hunt and Kevin Spacey's 2000 movie; Pay it forward until I’ve seen Billy Gilman’s music video of the song.

What's forever for lyrics:

I've been looking at people /And how they change with the times/ And lately all I've been seein' are people/ Throwing love away and losing their minds/ Or maybe it's me that's gone crazy/ 'Cause I can't understand why/ All these lovers keep hurting each other/ When good love is so hard to come by/ So what's the glory in living/ Doesn't anybody ever stay together anymore/ And if love never lasts forever/ Tell me what's forever for./ I've been listening to people/ And they say love is the key/ It's not my way to let them lead me astray/ It's only that I wanna believe/ But I see love hungry people/ Trying their best to survive/ While in their heads Is a dying romance/ They don't even try to keep it alive/ So what's the glory in living'/ Doesn't anybody ever stay together anymore/ And if love never lasts forever/ Tell me what's forever for./ And if love never lasts forever/ Tell me what's forever for.

End of Song.

I should be out here now to make way for open back banjos at musicians friend. :D
